Onset releases METAmessage Server v 55 for BlackBerry with cross-platform support

Onset Technology, one of the leading developers of software for BlackBerry smartphones, announced recently the addition of cross-platform support to its METAmessage - Emergency Communications and Paging software. This enhanced capability, designed for deployments of the BlackBerry wireless platform from Research In Motion, enables effective messaging for government agencies and enterprises with mixed-device environments.

"Increasingly, enterprise and government BlackBerry deployments must maintain communications with a variety of other smartphones," said Avi Koren, Onset's CEO. "Recognizing this need, we've added peer-to-peer networking capabilities to enable uninterrupted messaging via virtually any smartphone operating system. This substantially broadens the reach of our METAmessage Emergency Communications and Paging solutions."

The now-available METAmessage server includes a number of substantial advances that ensure communications when email infrastructure is down and enable pager replacement, including:

  • Cross-Platform Support -- uninterrupted messaging between multiple operating systems is maintained using both PIN-to-PIN and peer-to-peer protocols.
  • Web Console -- administrators can send and monitor messages with an easy-to-use browser interface.
  • Advanced Client Data Updater -- application updates, addressing, and client data can be sent and updated to both BlackBerry and cross-platform clients.

METAmessage Emergency Communications is an out-of-the-box solution for any enterprise or government agency that wants to leverage their smartphone deployment into an emergency communications network. The solution lets users:

  • Update accurate addresses automatically;
  • Blast messages to groups and distribution lists;
  • Force message alerts to ensure immediate notifications;
  • Know when messages are received and read;
  • Store vital documents on handhelds for access regardless of coverage.

METAmessage Paging effectively replaces and improves pager functionality for institutions supporting two devices or anticipating losing their current paging network. The value of paging has always been its simplicity and reliability. Often, the user received a single instruction -- Get In Touch. METAmessage Paging delivers the same simplicity and reliability to smartphones.

METAmessage Professional provides capabilities that significantly enhance the value of any BlackBerry smartphone. It provides access to documents located on office networks, printing anywhere, custom message alerts, and much more.
