Android doesn't show its face at CES

The Android smartphone OS, pioneered by Google, was notable by its absence at CES 2008.

Chinese OEM Wistron showed off a handset that they said would be running Android in the near future, but at the moment was running a different flavour of Linux.

PCMag, who set eyes on the Wistron device said, "The GW4 we saw had surprisingly low specs, but that's a testament to the efficiency of Linux, Wistron execs said."

Eric Zeman, writing for Information Week, reported that an unnamed hardware manufacturer said that he had an Android phone in his office and that it was great, but had neglected to bring it to CES.
