Rumour: HTC to build Windows Mobile smartphone for Sony Ericsson
Sony Ericsson may be a fully paid-up member of the Symbian supporters club, but the latest rumour to emerge from Taiwan suggests that they might be planning a move to the dark side, AKA Windows Mobile.
Shares in HTC jumped nearly 4% yesterday after respected Taiwanese business journals reported a deal made with Sony Ericsson that would see them partner to develop a Windows Mobile-based smartphone.
The Commercial Times reported that the order will top one million handsets, and the smartphone is due to hit the market in the second half of 2008.
