Nokia adds new features to S60 software

Nokia has announced several enhancements to its S60 platform at the Symbian Smartphone show in London.

Most exciting is the addition of a touchscreen interface with tactile input, as well as sensing motion, orientation, proximity and light. The touchscreen can also be used with a stylus and interestingly will silence the phone when placed face down.

The S60 web browser is also being upgraded to support Flash.

S60 v5 (there's no v4 to avoid using the supposedly unlucky number in the Far East) won't be available to developers until the second half of next year.
