Rumour: LG set to announce 'Google phone' - but is it the real thing?

A leaked (for which read, possibly inaccurate) press release suggests that LG is to announce what is described as a 'Google phone' in the European market this week.

The handset, which bears a striking resemblance to the LG Chocolate will apparently be known as the LG-KU580. It boasts a 'Google' hot button (so says the announcement, but we can't spot it) and provides access to three Google applications in one package - Gmail, Maps and Search

Convinced? Well here at SPR we are fairly won over that LG may be about to make a product announcement tied in with some Google features (similar to that made by Samsung and Google at the beginning of the year), but is this the much hyped Google phone?

No. Absolutely not. If Google is going to place its name on a piece of mobile kit then we think it would have to be a damn sight more exciting that handset which is a minor upgrade from one that's been on the market for some time.
