Half a million iPhones shift in a weekend
Although many stores were still reporting iPhones in stock 24 hours after it launched, Apple still managed to notch up around 500,000 sales in the first weekend.
Piper Jaffray and Global Equities Research put the number of sales of the device at 500,000 and 525,000 respectively. Bloomberg believed that AT&T stores had mainly sold out, but Apple stores still had some of the phones on sale.
Other research showed on USA Today showed that of 2600 iPhone for sale on eBay the average sale price was $775.03, not vastly more than the official retail price.
