Battery replacement costs for iPhone owners
Apple gave no information about iPhone battery replacement costs before the launch of the device, but a notice posted on the Apple web site has revealed that it is not a cheap exercise.
Teardowns of the iPhone published in the week since its launch have revealed that the battery is soldered into place and is not easily swappable like most other mobile phones.
As a result, phones have to be returned to Apple for battery replacement. This service will cost $79, plus $6.95 for shipping, and will take three business days. Apple will supply a replacement iPhone while yours is 'away' for an extra $29.
Needless to say consumer groups are expressing everything from mild upset, to outrage anger at the news.
