iPhone bug list - but should we even be writing about it at all?

Applehound has published a list of 68 bugs that afflict the iPhone, but admit that "this was not an easy task. The OS X graphical interface and applications are extremely solid!".

The bugs range from minor display issues to application crashes. The most serious seems to be a flickering of the screen when the proximity sensor is activated for only a second.

The general consensus is that some of the more obvious bugs aren't on this list, but Applehound has done a sterling job in unearthing some obscure problems.

While compiling this story we stumbled across a blog entry that makes us doubt if we should even be covering the iPhone at all!

Eric Everson's ZDnet blog asks the question..well, actually he states it as fact...'iPhone is not a smartphone'.

Everson's point is that with the OS locked down and third party applications so limited that the iPhone is no competition for Palm and the Blackberry and should not even be viewed as a device in the same class.
